What we checked on Whova
The fee per ticket
Whova publishes one per-paid-ticket registration fee of 3% of the ticket price plus $0.99, with no cap or minimum stated.
For every ticket sold through Whova, we charge a registration fee of 3% of the ticket price plus a $0.99 processing fee using Stripe payout.
Who pays the fees
The organizer chooses: Whova lists passing the ticket fee on to registrants as an option, so the fee can sit on top of the price or be absorbed.
Option to pass fees to registrants
Card processing
Stripe processes the cards and the organizer links its own Stripe account, but Whova publishes no card rate of its own, so processing cost sits outside the quoted 3% + $0.99.
Whova uses Stripe as its payment processing platform. It will require you to link your Stripe account to Whova’s online registration system.
Free events
Free tickets carry no Whova ticket fee at all and the vendor states there is no cap on how many free tickets an event distributes.
Yes, Whova supports free tickets without charging any ticket fees. There is no limit to the number of free tickets you can distribute through Whova.
Donations and tips
Buyers can add a donation as an extra contribution during or after registration; Whova does not state any fee on a donation and never mentions asking buyers to tip the platform.
Gain Extra Contributions:Gather further contributions with extra add-ons, such as donations, during or after the registration process.
Sales tax on tickets
Whova does not collect or remit sales tax: its terms put failure to pay or withhold taxes squarely on the organizer, and no tax-line setting is documented.

When you get the money
Money lands in the organizer's own linked Stripe account as each ticket sells rather than being held until after the event, with no payout fee stated by Whova.
Once a ticket is sold, the funds are immediately deposited into your Stripe account. From the Stripe account, you can transfer them to your bank…
Your buyers’ details
Organizers see and export registrant responses and order details, and can email past attendees in campaigns, so the buyer list is the organizer's to use.
Easily view & export responses View registrant responses in analytic charts and easily export into spreadsheets
Ticket types and discounts
Multiple ticket tiers, automatic early-bird pricing, amount or percentage discount codes and bundled group tickets are all documented registration features.
Early bird pricing Increase ticket sales with automatically adjusted prices based on purchase date
Questions at checkout
Custom fields collect your own questions and the flow can branch by answer and by ticket type, so questions can differ per ticket.
Personalize registration flows Build separate registration pages or configure questions based on answers and ticket type.
Registration forms and waivers
Registration forms take custom fields of your own, and waivers and forms can be pushed to attendees and tracked in the dashboard at check-in.
Automatically manage waivers and forms Prompt attendees to complete forms during check in on the app and track submissions in Whova’s dashboard.
Timed entry
Attendees reserve places in specific sessions ahead of time and organizers cap session attendance, which covers slot capacity but not general timed-entry admission windows.
Reserve Sessions Ahead Of Time:Allow attendees to reserve spots for specific sessions in advance, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Online events
Virtual and hybrid events are a documented product line, with Zoom, Teams, Webex, YouTube Live and Vimeo streams linked to agenda sessions attendees reach in the app.
Zoom A widely-used virtual meeting and webinar platform. Connect to enable automatic meeting creation and session linking within the event agenda.

Sell on your own website
Registration widgets can be embedded directly on the organizer's own site or webpages, so buyers need not be sent to a Whova-hosted page.
Embeddable registration widgets Easily link or embed ticketing widgets on your website and webpages
Website builders
Embed only: Whova offers embeddable registration widgets and event webpages for any site with no coding, but names no WordPress, Squarespace, Wix or Shopify plugin.

Add-ons
Merchandise, extra sessions and similar add-ons can be sold during registration, and attendees can come back later to make additional purchases.
Add-ons & additional purchases Include merch, extra sessions, and more as add-ons and allow attendees to make additional purchases later
Refunds and transfers by buyers
Refunds must be issued by the organizer in its own Stripe account rather than requested by the buyer in Whova, and ticket transfer between attendees is not documented at all.
Since Whova utilizes Stripe as its payment processor, all refunds must be managed directly by you through your Stripe account.
Check-in app
Staff and volunteers scan each attendee's QR code with the Whova app on their own phones, no scanning hardware required; offline behavior is not described.
Instantly scan with the Whova app — no fancy hardware required
Door sales
Whova supports offline payment by check, cash or wire alongside online sales, but publishes no card-at-the-door terminal and no separate door-sale fee.

Apple Wallet
After registering through Whova, attendees are prompted to add the event pass to Apple Wallet; it requires the event to use Whova's own registration system.
After attendees register through Whova’s registration, they will be prompted to add the new event pass to their Apple or Google Wallet.
Google Wallet
The same confirmation email offers a Google Wallet pass holding the attendee's QR code and registration code, again only for Whova-run registration.
The buttons for attendees to add event passes to their Apple and Google wallets are included in the Whova registration confirmation emails (after…
