What we checked on UltraSignup
Fees on 200 tickets at $25
$950 in fees on 200 tickets at $25 on U.S. Event Registrations, all paid by the organizer: each ticket costs the buyer $25 and the organizer keeps $4,050. The organizer can pass the fees on to buyers instead.
On the page: U.S. Event Registrations table, $0.01-$99 row
Fees on 50 tickets at $25
$237.50 in fees on 50 tickets at $25 on U.S. Event Registrations, all paid by the organizer: each ticket costs the buyer $25 and the organizer keeps $1,012.50. The organizer can pass the fees on to buyers instead.
On the page: U.S. Event Registrations table, $0.01-$99 row
The fee per ticket
A percentage of the registration price plus a fixed amount charged once per cart, banded by price: 6.25% + $2.50 with a $3.50 minimum under $100, 6.5% + $3.50 to $999, then 5.25% + $5.
$0.01-$99 6.25% + $2.50 $3.50 minimum $100-$999 6.5% + $3.50 $1000+ 5.25% + $5 *Fixed fee is on applied to cart once.
Who pays the fees
The race director chooses: fees can be added on top so the runner covers them, or offset so the director absorbs them out of the registration price.
You have the flexibility to either add these fees to the event price (where the runner covers the fees) or offset them (where you cover the fees).
Card processing
For US events card processing is inside the hosting fee rather than charged on top; outside the US the UltraSignup service fee is separate and Stripe's own fees fall to the director.
These fees encompass all transaction charges associated with processing credit cards.
All-in price at checkout
Since July 2024 every displayed price on the platform includes service fees and tax, with the breakdown shown at checkout, and directors cannot switch the display back.
all event registration pages on UltraSignup will include all fees and taxes wherever prices are displayed on the platform
Free events
A registration priced at $0 carries no hosting fee in both the U.S. and non-U.S. fee tables, so a free event costs the organizer nothing; paid add-ons on that registration are still charged 6.25% + $1.

Fees on refunds
Processing fees are stated as non-refundable, and UltraSignup itself issues no refunds: the registration money sits with the race director, who decides each request, so the fees are lost when a refund is given.
UltraSignup does not issue refunds. The money paid for event registration goes to the race director, not to UltraSignup. Processing fees are not…
Plans and subscriptions
Pricing is stated purely as a percentage tied to each registration price, with no monthly or annual hosting plan offered or any plan that changes the fee bands.
Our event hosting fees are calculated based on a percentage tied to the event's registration price.
Donations and tips
Donations are collected three ways: a small registration fee with tiered donation add-ons, a $0 registration with an optional or required donation add-on, or priced donation levels; the article does not say checkout asks buyers to tip UltraSignup.
Set the registration fee to $0, and collect donations via an optional add-on. Participants can choose to donate or pay nothing. The add-on can also…
Refund protection at checkout
offered, on by default: Spot-powered Refund Guarantee and Refund Insurance are sold to runners at checkout at their own cost, and a director has to toggle the setting off to remove them.
Refund Guarantee and Refund Insurance are UltraSignup features powered by Spot that give participants the option to cancel their race registration…
Sales tax on tickets
collects and remits sales tax as a marketplace facilitator once the threshold in your state is met, but directors in Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon still file their own.
holdouts include Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon—folks in these states, you're still in charge of handling your own tax filing
When you get the money
U.S. organizers are paid to their own bank account twice a month rather than waiting for the event, with 3-5 business days to land and a $100 minimum balance; Canadian and international events are paid through Stripe, and no payout fee is stated.
For US-based accounts, payouts are processed on the 1st & the 15th each month (typically, December funds are processed on 12/31), and take 3-5…
Disputed charges
When a buyer disputes the charge with their bank, the funds plus additional fees are deducted from the director's account and appear as an adjustment on the statement, with no fee amount published.
When they do, the funds, along with additional fees, are automatically deducted from our merchant account. Consequently, these deducted funds will…
Your buyers’ details
Directors can export participant records from current and past event years and send branded emails to their registrants, including to previous years' entrants.
If you need to download or export the participant list for the previous year, you can do so after selecting the correct year from the dropdown menu.
Ticket types and discounts
Up to three price tiers with dated increases are self-serve, labels cover member or youth pricing, coupon codes run promotions, and support sets up bundles or more tiers.
You have 3 options when adding prices: No Price Change One Change (two tiers) Two Changes (three tiers)
Questions at checkout
Directors build multiple-choice and free-form questions that appear in the registration flow per registrant, can mark them required, cap option quantities and export the responses.
On your question creator/editor screen, you will see the option to create a multiple choice question or a free-form question.
Registration forms and waivers
Custom questions plus a waiver are part of every event: registration will not even open until the director pastes in a waiver for participants to complete at signup.
If you do not add your waiver, your event registration will not open! It is crucial to include a waiver for participants to complete during the…
Waitlist
A waitlist can be enabled to open automatically when a distance fills, shown publicly, and worked by invitation or charge-and-add when entrants cancel.
A waitlist can be used to capture additional registrations after the capacity you set for your event has been reached.
Online events
Virtual and online events are a supported setup type with self-reported results, though the pages do not say a stream link is delivered to entrants automatically.
Virtual / self-reported: no physical start line. Runners log their own results. Good for virtual challenges or mileage-based events.
Add-ons
Add-ons cover merchandise, meals, parking and donations, with per-option pricing, quantity limits of five, shipping or pickup delivery and a public shopping page.
Optional add-ons (shirts, meals, donations, parking, and more)
Recurring events
Series and season setups bundle multiple dates into one registration, either as a package price or a single page spanning the season, and past events are renewed rather than rebuilt.
A registration series bundles two or more of your races into a single package. Runners register once and are entered in every race in the series
Refunds and transfers by buyers
Runners cancel their own order up to a date the director sets, three days before race day by default, and transfer their bib to another runner when the director enables it.
Enabling bib transfers allows participants to transfer their registration to another participant if they cannot make the event.
Door sales
Race-day signups run through the normal registration page kept open until minutes before the start, with a printed QR code at the check-in table and the same card fees.
By keeping your registration open until 10 minutes before your event starts and posting a QR code at your check-in table, you can enable runners to…
Listed where buyers browse
Every listing gets a public event page on UltraSignup's own race-finding site, pitched as showing up where endurance athletes already search; neither the hosting page nor the fee table states any extra fee or commission for a registration that comes from it.
A public event page, visible to the UltraSignup community. When you list on UltraSignup, you're not placing an ad. You're showing up where athletes…
Email to buyers
A drag-and-drop communications tool sends branded race emails from templates, and recurring events can mail past attendees by selecting a previous year.
For recurring events, you can send communications to past attendees. Select your template, build your email, and use the dropdown in the top right to…
Ad tracking
Event settings take a Facebook Pixel ID and a Google AdWords ID so a director can measure paid campaigns against their own registration page.
Add Facebook Pixel ID : If you use Facebook Pixel for tracking and analytics, you can add the Pixel ID here. Add Google AdWords ID
Promoter links
The Facebook Referrals tool lists who shared their registration, how many clicks each drove and how many registrations followed; no commission or payout scheme is documented.
The Facebook tool shows a list of people who shared their registration on Facebook, along with a count of how many times their link was clicked…
Free to start
A director can pass every fee to the runner so nothing comes out of the entry price, and free events carry no platform fee at all; non-US events still bear Stripe's own charges.
On the page: Opening paragraph on event hosting fees
Sign up without a sales call
Setup is a five-step self-serve flow, but lotteries, bundled pricing, more than three tiers, multi-day and club programs need the support team, and free events must be approved before activation.
Setting up a multi-day event or club program ? Contact Member Ops before you start — those setups have a few extra steps and it's faster with a hand.
Contract
No contract length or termination terms are published, but US registration is exclusive: an event may not run on another platform or be listed without hosting here.
we allow international events to dual host, provided that UltraSignup exclusively manages registrations within the United States
Support on event day
Directors reach the team through a contact form and the help center's request page, with runners routed to the race director for event questions; no phone line or support hours are published.
If you are a race director, or a runner with questions about your UltraSignup member profile, your personal results page, or anything related to bugs…
